The members of Lynbrook FBLA realize that the natures of politics, business and social well-being are inherently interconnected, and by recognizing these relationships, we sought to create a fundraising scheme that would - in its own way - influence each of these areas. We believe that by marketing our t-shirts, we can foment change in the attitude of America's disillusioned youth and open their eyes to the world of leadership and opportunity around them. We believe that the way to do this is through fashion - specifically, quirky t-shirts meant to amuse and inspire. We are confident that these will raise community awareness with regard to important contemprary issues, because they will be ubiquitously present on the outfits of our young adults. The community will also grow more fashionable as a result.
We also hope that the messages on our products will inspire more political activism. Our message will create more informed young adults that will become active in politics and their increased awareness will ultimately result in policy decisions that benefit the community and are more in touch with what will benefit the public. Similarly, throughout this process, we as a club will gain valuable business experiences and the profits that this model brings will be put forth to more short-term goals: we will be able to organize community service activities as well as leadership activities, again reinforcing our original message.
So how can a simple t-shirt sale result in such a great change? We at Lynbrook FBLA strive to go beyond the simple profit; rather, we wish to inspire and to communicate a message - we dare to dream big. Besides, we've already created this website ... we're "paying for this microphone," metaphorically speaking... we might as well use it.
